5 San Diego Chargers Veterans Who Won't Survive Training Camp in 2015

The San Diego Chargers are on a mission this season, not just to win the AFC West, but to make a deep run in the playoffs. With their core solidified and a number of offseason acquisitions both on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, there is no room for error with getting the most out of their roster and that starts with weeding out players. Here are five Chargers veterans who won't survive training camp in 2015.

The San Diego Chargers usually come into training camp with about eight to nine linebackers on the roster, and this year is no different. That should be good news for Cordarro Law, except for the fact that the Chargers selected two linebackers with their five draft picks in 2015. Even with their 3-4 base on defense, Law is going to be hard pressed to make the cut this year.

4. Dontrelle Inman

Dontrelle Inman's claim to fame thus far in San Diego really comes down to two games, 12 receptions and just over 150 yards in the final two games of 2014. Although he did end the season on a high note, the Chargers have quite the cluttered receiving corps with the additions of Stevoe Johnson, Jacoby Jones and Austin Pettis. Inman's days as a San Diego Charger are numbered.

3. David Paulson

David Paulson is the second tight end from the Pittsburgh Steelers to join the Chargers (David Johnson has as well). The one difference between the two is that David Johnson right now has a spot on the depth chart at fullback, while Paulson is sitting fourth string at the tight end position. It doesn't help that Paulson also hasn't played football since the 2013 season. Being a year removed gives little reason to believe he will survive camp.

2. Steve Williams

This has little to do with Steve Williams talent-wise. He had a pretty solid career at California (even intercepting Andrew Luck which very few DBs who played in the Pac-12 could say), but this is about him being able to stay healthy. He suffered a pectoral injury his rookie year and was set to have a bounce-back year in 2014, but hardly saw the field. Being practically a third-year-rookie does not hold much bearing going into camp.

This may come as a surprise as Clemens has not yet suited up for a game in a Chargers uniform, but I don't think the Bolts expected other veteran quarterbacks to be available this late in the offseason. Yes, Clemens won nearly half his games filling in for an injured Sam Bradford on the St. Louis Rams, but the Chargers are thinking playoffs and beyond. They need a backup QB they can trust with playoff experience,
