The Denver Broncos had an abrupt end to their 2015 Super Bowl hopes after a 24-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Divisional round. They want to make a Super Bowl push again, but Peyton Manning is 39 years old. They need more players to step up around the aging QB. Here are five Broncos training camps battles to watch in 2015.

Nate Irving joined the Colts this offseason, so Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan are the only inside linebackers with extensive starting experience. Their backups are all unproven. Reggie Walker has the most in-game experience of all the backups but has no starts in his career. Also, Marshall is still recovering from a Lis Franc injury he suffered in Week 15. Someone needs to step up and give the Broncos some inside linebacker depth.

4. Starting Tight End

It is going to be hard to replace Julius Thomas. However, the Broncos do need solid production from the tight end position. Virgil Green and Owen Daniels will most likely fight for the right to be the starter. Daniels has had a lot injuries in his career, and Green was usually the second tight end behind Thomas. One of them will need to be a consistent option for Manning in the middle of the field.

3. The No. 3 Receiver

The Broncos still have Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. However, the third receiver is a mystery. The team has a bright prospect in Cody Latimer from the 2014 NFL Draft. Andre Caldwell also has a lot of experience to offer. However, there is not much depth after these players. The remaining wideouts are inexperienced journeymen and practice squad players.

2. Starting Running Back

The Broncos have three running backs to choose from. C.J. Anderson was arguably the most effective back in 2014 and was the starter late last season. Ronnie Hillman has been a second or third option for the Broncos, but he has never been the feature back. Montee Ball was a workhorse at Wisconsin, but he has had trouble with consistency and staying healthy. Greg Kubiak wants to run the ball a lot, so knowing the starter early will help.

1. Starting Left Tackle

Left tackle is the second-most important position, and the Broncos already lost Ryan Clady to a season-ending ACL tear. They are keeping Chris Clark at right tackle which means Ty Sambrailo, their 2015 second-round draft pick, could be their left tackle. Michael Schofield will also battle for the starting spot. The Broncos will only make the Super Bowl by keeping Manning upright, so this position needs filled quickly to properly protect him.
