The San Francisco 49ers have suffered an unexpected roller coaster of an offseason this year. As training camp nears, there are some huge red-flag issues that management and the team as a whole need to look out for and address.

Heading into training camp, the 49ers and the players looking to make the 53-man roster should look to fill the holes left by the unexpected retirements of Patrick Willis, Chris Borland and Patrick Willis. In addition to the retirements, the health of concussion prone Eric Reid and the gap in play for the previously injured NaVorro Bowman are also concerning issues for the 49ers.

Should the worst happen in 2015 and Colin Kaepernick sustains an injury, Blaine Gabbert is hardly the answer for the 49ers. An already struggling team could not afford such a loss, but should look for a leader to emerge in training camp as an insurance policy against the worst possible outcome.

As previously mentioned, the 49ers suffered many losses this offseason. This is concerning not only on a team level, but on a divisional level. The 49ers reside in arguably the most competitive division in the NFL, the NFC West. The St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks could all make cases for how their team has improved since February. This is something the 49ers should keep in mind entering training camp.

While Colin Kaepernick is rumored to have a new and explosive arm ready to debut this 2015 season, it won't be much use to him if he doesn't have the protection he needs. The 49ers' offensive line needs work. The starting jobs on the line seem up for grabs and players competing for a spot on the roster should keep this in mind.

For many seasons now, the 49ers' offense has lacked a deep-threat receiver. With the addition of Torrey Smith to the offense this offseason, the team's need for this rests on him. However, the team should not put all their eggs in one basket. The 49ers must put a significant amount of focus into who their third option receiver will be behind Smith and Anquan Boldin.
