The Tampa Bay Buccaneers left a lot to be desired with a 2-14 record. Now, with a new quarterback under center and new offensive coordinator, many of those questions have found their corresponding solutions. Nevertheless, training camp is on the horizon and some questions still need to be answered. Here are five questions the Buccaneers must answer in training camp in 2015.

Last year, the Bucs returned to their trademark Tampa 2 defense and the results didn’t go as planned. They ranked 28th in defending the pass and gave up more than 250 yards through the air each game. The organization brought in much-needed help at the linebacker spot this offseason, but the lack of any rock solid options at safety and an unproven defensive line is cause enough to wonder if the days of the Tampa 2 are numbered.

Dirk Koetter’s new offense will be heavily up-tempo and rely, at times, on the no-huddle system. This will be a far cry from the sluggish pace the Bucs employed last season which, now with the addition of a rookie quarterback, means there will be a bit of a learning curve. Still, Koetter’s offense has immense potential. An offensive scheme which doesn’t match can spell disaster. Training camp will be Koetter’s first chance to assuage those fears.

Mike Evans turned in a spectacular rookie campaign in 2014 with over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. For the Bucs to compete in 2015, he will need to make the leap and become one of the NFL’s top targets. Evans worked closely with superstar wideout Randy Moss this summer and should excel in the new up-tempo offense which makes it a perfect storm for Evans to reach star status.

After a breakout rookie campaign, Martin has fallen off the face of the NFL. He’s played only 17 games since playing a full slate as a rookie and hasn’t eclipsed 500 rushing yards in that time either. The time is now for Martin to prove he can play in the NFL and his case will start in camp. As a rookie quarterback, Jameis Winston will need to lean on the run. Martin will need to show he can be that back or his time in Tampa will soon be over.

It’s no secret Winston comes with a lot of questions and skepticism. So far, he has turned in commendable efforts in minicamps and OTAs. Not to mention, he has drawn sterling reviews from his coaches and his teammates. Winston has NFL caliber talent. No question. It’s the stuff that goes on off the field which draws ire. A solid performance and some show of maturity in his first NFL training camp will go a long way towards silencing his skeptics.
