One of the sports teams to celebrate the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage today was the San Francisco 49ers. After the court issued its ruling, the team sent out a sweet, simple and sentimental message via their Twitter account:

Love Wins.
While the 49ers may be on the receiving end of harsh criticism and backlash for taking a political standpoint so publicly, the team has certainly done its job in being an advocate for the city.
San Francisco has the highest rate of LGBT residents out all of the American metropolitan areas. The 49ers have done what many popular and highly respected teams have been hesitant or resistant to do and inserted themselves into one of the most highly controversial issues America faces today.
Contrary to the love and support that the 49ers have shown to the LGBT community, the Minnesota Vikings are now the recipients of significant backlash after cornerback Josh Robinson took to social media to compare gay marriage to pedophilia and incest.
Robinson has since made his Twitter account private and viewable only to confirmed followers. However, screenshots of his tweets reveal this type of message:
Robinson went on to Tweet about his love for everyone and his devotion to his religion.
Whatever his intentions were, he has placed a target not only on his back, but on the back of the Vikings’ franchise. As a player in the NFL, your actions inevitably reflect back onto your team.
Today, the 49ers were on one side of the spectrum, and Robinson was on the other.
