In 2011, Maurice Jones- Drew was first team All-Pro for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He dominated the league in what was his third consecutive year being highly productive for the franchise and leading a top notch Jaguars rushing attack.

Since 2011, the Jaguars have struggled running the ball. MJD broke down and last year his replacements failed miserably. Head coach Gus Bradley would like to have a top notch defense with a solid running attack so his young QB, Blake Bortles, can develop and play with less pressure on him.

With the Jaguars’ rushing attack what it’s been, Bradley hasn’t been able to play his style of football at all. That’s where TJ Yeldon comes into play. The rookie running back out of Alabama was the Jaguars’ second-round draft choice, and they are expecting big things from him right away.

Yeldon will not just be given the starting job; he is going to have to work hard during training camp and earn that position. You can be confident that Yeldon will be given every opportunity by the Jaguars coaching staff to win the position, but he is going to have to prove it nevertheless.

Yeldon is a great all-purpose back. He can catch out of the backfield, run with power and is a very good blocker as well. That adds up to a future every down back in the NFL. Yeldon has a lot of potential and only fell to the second round thanks to a loaded running back position and the fact that the NFL has become a pass-first league. If this was 20 years ago, Yeldon could have been a top 10 pick. He has that much potential as a future NFL running back.

Denard Robinson, Storm Johnson and Bernard Pierce will all join Yeldon at training camp. They will all have equal opportunity to win the starting job out of camp, but if Yeldon doesn’t emerge the victor it will be quite a surprise. Yeldon has worked hard, impressed at OTAs and is saying all the right things. He says as far as he’s concerned he’s last on the depth chart until the coaches tell him otherwise.

With Yeldon’s talent, he should be confident that he will hear from his coaches that he’s starting Week 1 for the franchise. The sky is the limit for this NFL prospect.
