The team added key players in the Free Agency and NFL Draft, but lost key players along the way. With the new additions to the team, the Rams have a couple crucial roles to fill during the 2015 training camp. Here are the five Rams training camp battles to watch in 2015. 5. Outside Linebacker Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports During the free agency period, the Rams knew they needed to address this position, and did so in March. The Rams would add Akeem Ayers from the New England Patriots. The two candidates for the last outside linebacker position will be fourth-year linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Ayers facing off. Dunbar has been in the system for his upcoming fourth year, but Ayers could push him out of his position with his raw athleticism and pass rushing skills. 4. Starting Running Back Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports Rookie Todd Gurley is healing from his Torn ACL injury, but if he heals faster than expected and gets a couple of reps in training camp, it could be a battle to watch. Tre Mason had a phenomenal rookie year as he rushed for 756 yards in only 12 games. But as soon as Gurley gets on the field, Mason will be in trouble. Both running backs can display a blend of power and speed. However once healthy, Gurley is faster and more game-changing. 3. No. 1 Receiver Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports 3. No. 1 Receiver Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports Kenny Britt was the Rams' No. 1 receiver last season, but he only stepped up because of the injury of Brian Quick. Quick was the main man in St. Louis as he totaled 322 yards in the first four games of the season last year. After Quick went down, Britt took over and displayed a veteran leadership to the team. With five rookie linemen and two openings on the right offensive side, It's anyone's game. For the right guard position, It is the most wide-open race. The front runners for the position are rookies Jamon Brown and Andrew Donnal. Brown is a 6-foot-4, 323-pound run blocking machine. Right Offensive Tackle Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports Second-round draft pick Rob Havenstein is the clear front-runner, as he was the first linemen chosen by the Rams on draft day. Havenstein will compete for the right tackle position along with Andrew Donnal and Cody Wichmann. Havenstein stands at a mountainous 6-foot-7 along with 321 pounds of run-stopping material. Dark horses Wichmann and Donnal could steal the spotlight.
