The New York Jets struggled throughout last season, earning a 4-12 record. Despite a rough 2014 campaign, here are 10 reasons why Jets fans should be excited for the 2015 NFL season.

Percy Harvin was traded away for a reason, and the Jets decided to take a flyer on him. It didn’t work out that well, though. In eight games with the Jets, Harvin caught only one touchdown and failed to record over 400 yards receiving. Harvin left to join Rex Ryan and Buffalo and the Jets will be a better offense without him.

Gone are the days of press conferences that seem like Saturday Night Live sketches. Toward the end of his tenure in New York, Rex Ryan became more serious and a coaching change was in need. Enter Todd Bowles, who brings his defensive mind to a team with already one of the top 10 defenses in the league. Bowles has a lot of toys to play with on his defense and could have a lot of success too.

Cromartie is no stranger to the “Big Apple." In fact, he spent four seasons with the Jets prior to his one-year stint with the Cardinals in 2014. Cromartie’s return will make a huge difference in the Jets’ defensive backs in 2015.

7. Devin Smith

Drafted in the second round, Devin Smith is technically slated as a second-string receiver. This is due to the fact the Jets don’t run an offense that utilizes four wide receivers. As Smith gets more comfortable with Chan Gailey’s offense, he will be used more thanks to Gailey’s use of four receiver sets.

6. Leonard Williams

The Jets were able to get a steal in selecting Leonard Williams with the sixth overall pick in this year’s draft. Williams is currently slated as the Muhammad Wilkerson’s backup, but that won’t stop the Jets from finding a way to get him playing time. He can contribute right away with his talent, and the Jets will find a way to use it this year.

Jets brought back fan-favorite Darrelle Revis this past offseason. Revis will make the Jets not only intimidating on the line, but down the field as well. AFC quarterbacks will now have to be careful where they put their passes once again.

4. Brandon Marshall

The Jets added another weapon to Smith’s arsenal when they acquired the Chicago Bears’ Brandon Marshall in a trade. Marshall will serve as a top target for Smith opposite of Eric Decker. Marshall will not only serve as a target, but draw coverage off Decker and open the field up more for the offense.

It was only a matter of time before Geno Smith shows improvement. Given his offseason workouts and new targets in Brandon Marshall and Devin Smith, Smith should be able to cut down on his turnovers and will put together a better 2015 campaign.

2. Improved Offensive Line

The Jets bolstered their offensive line with the signing of former Seattle Seahawk James Carpenter. Carpenter worked on a line that boasted the top rushing attack in the league. Jets fans should look forward to an improved running game with Carpenter now on their line.

Jets have the right pieces on defense to carry the majority of the load this year. The defense will take pressure off Geno Smith, which will lead to a reduced number of turnovers. The Jets have the pieces to put together a winning campaign in 2015.
