Even though certain individuals won’t see any part of the regular season, there are some players who may fly under the radar and find themselves in uniform for Week 1 of 2015. Here are five dark horse candidates who just might make the Bears’ 53-man roster. 5. DeDe Lattimore Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports 5. DeDe Lattimore Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports With 15 linebackers currently on the Bears’ roster, the chances for DeDe Lattimore to make the 53-man roster seem very slim. However, Lattimore’s best shot for playing time during the regular season may be on special teams. 4. Senorise Perry Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports Advertisement 4. Senorise Perry Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports Just like Lattimore, Senorise Perry is entering his second year in the NFL. Also like Lattimore, Perry’s best shot at making Chicago’s 53-man roster is through special teams. Perry may not see much time in the Bears’ crowded backfield, but the Louisville product proved his worth to the special teams unit by contributing in all 16 games last year. 3. Al Louis-Jean Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports 3. Al Louis-Jean Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports Chicago added veteran cornerbacks Alan Ball and Tracy Porter to the roster over the offseason. There will be a huge battle for the fifth cornerback spot on the Bears’ depth chart, and Al Louis-Jean just might be the one to claim it since he just signed a two-year contract extension this past February. 2. Zach Miller Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports 2. Zach Miller Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports If it wasn’t for a foot injury during the 2014 preseason that eventually placed him on injured reserve, Zach Miller could have easily made the Bears’ roster last year. This season Miller has to beat out veterans Bear Pascoe and Dante Rosario for a spot behind Pro Bowler Martellus Bennett. Pascoe is more of a blocker, and Rosario could be a lead blocker in the backfield. Miller’s ball-catching skills could win him a spot on the 53-man roster. 1. Cornelius Washington Getty Images 1. Cornelius Washington Getty Images Chicago seemed to have its defensive line intact, but the sudden departure of defensive end Ray McDonald left a huge void. Cornelius Washington may not be the primary choice to fill that hole, but his experience in a 3-4 alignment as a Georgia Bulldogs player can greatly help his chances of cementing a spot on the Bears’ 53-man roster for the 2015 season.
