You might be hard-pressed to find another two-time winning Super Bowl quarterback and two-time Super Bowl MVP who has come under more scrutiny throughout his career than Eli Manning. You can’t fault too many people for questioning Manning at times, though, because his play has been really inconsistent throughout his career.

To help rekindle Manning’s career and hopefully get it back on track, the Giants brought in a completely new offensive system in 2014.

It was essentially a rebuilding year for Manning and their offense last season. The New York Giants brought in new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo from the Green Bay Packers, and with bringing McAdoo aboard, they totally changed their offensive game plan. Gone are the days of the run-and-shoot under Kevin Gilbride. The Giants brought in more of a West Coast offense for Manning under McAdoo.

Manning had played in the same type of offense throughout his entire career up until last season. It was obvious with Manning and the offense’s play last year that there was going to be an adjustment period from everything including: play patterns, timing and terminology.

McAdoo also worked with Manning to change his mechanics, something that is unheard of when it comes to a Super Bowl-winning veteran in his mid-30s. It was a learning season last year for Manning and trying to change the way a player has played throughout his entire career and expecting immediate results is almost impossible.

After a year under McAdoo’s new system, the Giants and Manning should feel a lot more comfortable with the offense for the 2015 season. Manning should be able to develop better timing with his receivers on their pass patterns and his mechanics should improve. Manning didn’t have a horrible season last year, throwing for 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, but the offense was inconsistent. Another year under the new system will help Manning and the offense become more prolific. This training camp, it won’t be something new they are learning. They should be able to build off what they learned and play at to their capabilities.

Manning will also get Odell Beckham Jr. to start the year, and the rookie standout now has a season under his belt. If Beckham can improve on his great rookie season, the Giants may have a superstar in the making. Add in Victor Cruz returning from injury and Manning will have two premier targets to throw the ball to.

As long as the rebuilt offensive line can block for Manning, Manning should be able to grow within the new offensive system and get the Giants’ offense back on track. This will be an interesting training camp for Manning and the Giants, though, and it’s a camp worth watching. Will Manning be more comfortable with McAdoo’s system? Will the Giants’ offense turn around and be more consistent?

The pressure is on Manning and the Giants to perform better this year. They have no excuses anymore.
