The St. Louis Rams drafted four offensive linemen during the 2015 NFL Draft, but that apparently wasn’t enough. Early Thursday afternoon, the Rams selected former Clemson offensive tackle Isaiah Battle in the fifth round of the Supplemental Draft.

Battle started 11 games for Clemson in 2014, but said he left school early due to “some family matters to address, with a child due this summer.” The 6-foot-6, 312 pound road-grader also had some off-the-field issues during his time at Clemson. He is the first player taken in the supplemental draft since 2012.

Battle served a suspension in 2013 after he punched a player and then had another suspension last year for disciplinary reasons.
In addition, Battle was caught with marijuana after being pulled over for speeding last month, but he was not charged or arrested.

By selecting Battle with the No. 8 pick in the fifth round, the Rams lose their fifth round pick in the 2016 draft. It very well may be worth it, because if he can put all his raw natural talent and ability together, Battle will be a steal in the fifth round for the Rams.
