The San Diego Chargers, on paper, look poised to takeover the AFC West and compete with any team in their conference. Everyone on the team is healthy, and with that there will be a ton of competition once training camp starts. Here are the 5 position battles to keep an eye on once training camp starts for the Chargers.

Steve Williams had much promise when he was drafted in 2013, but missed the season because of a pectoral injury. He's basically going into his sophomore season in 2015, just like Chris Davis. Davis made an immediate impact on the field as rookie both from the corner position and on special teams. If Williams wants to win the spot of being the nickel corner, he will have to stay healthy and prove he can keep up.

With Antonio Gates being suspended to start the season, the Chargers and quarterback Philip Rivers are going to need players to step up. Enter Austin Pettis and Stevie Johnson. Both are newcomers to the Chargers offense in 2015 and both have been "the guy" at the receiver position before. Whomever makes an impression in camp will likely receive many targets in the slot position from Rivers in the first four games until Gates returns.

3. Running Back: Donald Brown vs. the field

Have we forgotten how much of a dynamic of player Donald Brown once was? The Chargers are littered with talent at the RB position, so much so that Brown could possibly be the fourth running back on their depth chart. Branden Oliver surely has the No. 2 spot wrapped up from his breakout season in 2014, and Rivers absolutely loves Danny "3rd Down Back" Woodhead. Brown will try to make it known in camp that he can still compete at a high level.

2. Defensive Tackle: Sean Lissemore vs. Mitch Unrein

This is going to be one of the more intriguing battles to watch in Chargers training camp. Here you have two very physical lineman: one having played in this defensive system for two years already (Lissemore), the other coming in from an AFC West rival (Unrein). Lissemore is the favorite to win the starting position, but has only amounted three sacks in two years. Unrein has zero, but the Chargers have invested in him so he'll get his shot.

The linebacker position, as far as the reserves are concerned, is one of the youngest for the San Diego Chargers. This means the competition is going to be fierce with everyone being on the same page. Kavell Connor is in his sixth year and will likely be the first in off the bench if not starting in 2015. GM Tom Telesco has been talking up the need for Attaochu's pass rushing ability so that's a good sign for him going into training camp.
