After another solid offseason of adding talented pieces to the roster, the Jacksonville Jaguars are finally in a position to at least be competitive. All signs point towards improvement over last season. However, if the Jaguars hope to carry the momentum of this offseason into the regular season, they cannot afford to lose any of these five players.

Looking to generate more pressure from the strong side defensive end spot, the Jaguars signed Odrick this offseason. The big, athletic defensive end represents an upgrade over last season's starter Red Bryant. Odrick could prove to be an invaluable asset because of his ability to move inside on passing downs to generate pass rush.

4. Telvin Smith, LB

In today's NFL, linebackers with speed and the ability to cover are precious commodities. A second-year veteran, Smith showed flashes of being a game-changing defender last season. With little to no depth at linebacker, the Jaguars need Smith to stay healthy and produce.

The addition of Thomas gives the Jaguars' offense something it has not had in quite some time - a dynamic playmaker. While backup Marcedes Lewis is more than capable, Thomas is the type of player opposing defenses must account for in the game plan.

Although he is recovering from an injury and may not be ready to start the season, Marks is the Jaguars' best defender. No other player on the roster is capable of causing the type of havoc Marks can as an interior pass rusher.

The Jaguars' success this season depends entirely on the development and health of Blake Bortles. The second-year quarterback has been working on his fundamentals and mechanics this offseason, and he seems poised to take the next step.
