Justin Hunter Could Be Finished With Tennessee Titans After Arrest

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter has been arrested for felonious assault and will be held without bail until his arraignment on Tuesday. Reportedly, Hunter was charged following an incident at Sandbar Raw Bar in Virginia Beach, VA. According to the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office, the specific allegations are malicious intent, stabbing, cutting and wounding.

This arrest could very likely be the nail in the coffin for the former Tennessee Volunteer, as just last month, Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt called out Hunter for his inability to produce on the field. “At some point, you either get it or you won’t be in this league anymore. That’s the natural order of the NFL,” said Whisenhunt, according to the Tennessean.

Judging by that statement, Whisenhunt was already on his last straw with Hunter, and after this arrest, it seems more than likely that the Titans will put Hunter on waivers, as opposed to putting him on paid leave while dealing with his legal issues.

Through his first two NFL seasons, Hunter has 46 career catches for 852 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s been quite the disappointment since being selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, hence why this will likely be the last straw for Whisenhunt and the Titans.

Hunter is frustrating because he has the size and speed combo that can be so effective in the NFL, but he just hasn’t been able to figure it out in the league. While a team could still take a flier on the 24-year-old, if the Titans do put him on waivers, because of his potential, he’s not doing himself any favors by getting arrested for a potentially serious offense.
