The Bengals addressed the loss of Jermaine Gresham when they selected C.J. Uzomah in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft. The former Auburn prospect isn’t expected to make an impact in the passing game behind Tyler Eifert and third-round draft pick Tyler Kroft. Instead, Uzomah has made a positive impact as a blocking TE that is essential in the Bengals' power running game. Uzomah is on track to make the 53-man roster as a blocking TE.

The Bengals were determined to add depth to their wide receiving corps that was devastated by injury in last year’s playoff loss to the Colts. They did so by signing former Oakland Raider Denarius Moore to a one-year deal. Moore is reunited with Hue Jackson who was his head coach in Oakland his rookie year. Under Jackson, Moore has a chance to put up the numbers he did during his rookie year as an effective target in the Bengals' passing game.

Starting linebacker positions may be up for grabs as Vontaze Burfict continues to recover from surgery entering training camp. The Bengals brought back Rey Maualuga and signed A.J. Hawk in free agency, but they also drafted Paul Dawson in Round 3. Dawson has the potential to start on the weak side if Burfict can’t go to begin the season. The rookie will have a chance to develop while he competes with Sean Porter for reps in training camp.

Seventh-year wide receiver Brandon Tate made a majority of his contributions in the Bengals' kick return game in 2014, but he was inconsistent at best. The Bengals selected receiver Mario Alford in the seventh round of this year’s draft, and the team has been most impressed with the speed he brings. Alford has a chance to make the 53-man roster and even challenge Tate for offensive reps by earning the kick return job.

The Bengals' offensive line was unsurprisingly one of the team’s biggest strengths a year ago. The offensive line has consistently been one of the best in the NFL during the Marvin Lewis era. The Bengals spent their top two draft picks on offensive tackles to maintain consistency for years to come. It’s clear that a dominant offensive line has increased their chances of making the postseason, and the Bengals have addressed this year after year.
