Every year training camp rolls around fans have a fair idea of who will certainly be on the team and who will be cut. Despite this, many people still have a hard time filling out a 53-man roster simply because there are always those players who are close in skill or are right there on the bubble. Here are five guys on the Philadelphia Eagles who will have to fight for their spot.

JaCorey Shepherd is a sixth-round pick out of Kansas. Many scouts had positive things to say about him and considered him a steal when the Eagles drafted him in the sixth round. He's great at tracking the ball and reading receivers. He will be battling for a spot with many talented veterans.

Marcus Smith has not lived up to the expectations of a first-round pick. He had trouble adjusting to the NFL last season and only played eight games. According to his teammate Connor Barwin, Smith has made the necessary improvements in the offseason and has taken workouts seriously. With the depth the Eagles have at linebacker, Smith will have to show improvement.

John Harris was signed as an undrafted free agent. He has great size, which could be an asset in the run game as well as a decent ability to go up for the ball. Don’t be surprised if he knocks someone off and takes their spot.

With Todd Herremans and Evan Mathis gone, both guard spots are open. The Eagles are going into camp with a decent group of offensive linemen and if Kelly is to make the cut then it will have to be as a guard. Kelly is listed as a tackle, but with there is already a lot of depth at that position.

Matt Barkley will be fighting with everything he’s got for the third-string quarterback spot. Tim Tebow was not brought in for nothing. Towards the end of last season, Chip Kelly had a chance to play Barkley and give him some time and he refused to put him in. Barkley has everything to prove and therefore should give a great performance against a hungry Tebow.
