These are players labeled “on the bubble,” meaning they have better shots to make the team than the multitude of camp bodies, but their spots certainly aren’t guaranteed. As usual, this year’s group is intriguing to say the least. Lache Seastrunk Getty Images Lache Seastrunk Getty Images The day the Cowboys signed the Temple, Texas native and Baylor alum, everyone in the Metroplex began rooting for the speedster to somehow make the roster. With Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar’s spot all but locked ahead of him, Seastrunk’s best bet is to impress the coaching staff enough to keep running backs on the active roster this year. However, he’ll have to show them something he didn’t show the Redskins, Panthers or Titans George Farmer Getty Images Advertisement George Farmer Getty Images ACL and MCL tears prevented Farmer from truly having a college career at USC, but the Cowboys saw something in the speedster that made them give him a cash guarantee for this year to persuade him to pick them over other teams. In his only real college season, he caught 25 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns. Dallas wants to see what he can do when given a real opportunity. If he can impress them, he could receive a sixth receiver spot. Laurence Gibson Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports Laurence Gibson Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports His versatility is Gibson’s biggest asset heading into training camp as he played both tackle positions and guard at Virginia Tech and he’s athletic enough to do the same in the NFL. With third-round pick Chaz Green out with hip surgery, Gibson will get plenty of reps at backup tackle with Darrion Weems and is likely to make the team until Green recovers, if nothing else. The Cowboys like Gibson and will give him every opportunity to earn a job. Ben Gardner Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports Ben Gardner Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports Had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his shoulder not derailed his rookie season, Gardner, a 2014 seventh-round pick, would possibly be a lock to make the roster this year. But with a very crowded defensive line group and no real game tape as evidence of his abilities, Gardner will basically enter training camp as a rookie again competing for a job with a slew of other camp bodies. He'll need to remind the Cowboys why they drafted him. Corey White E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports Corey White E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports White played three solid seasons for the Saints before getting waived, so the Cowboys think they may have a hidden gem in camp. Add in the fact he can play both cornerback and safety, and White is possibly the most likely of all the roster bubbles players to make the team. If Dallas decides to keep six cornerbacks or five safeties (or he convinces them to do so in camp), he’ll have a job.
