St. Louis Rams 2015 Training Camp Profile: DE Robert Quinn

The St. Louis Rams have one of the best defenses in the NFL and a lot of the credit goes to that scary defensive line. The Rams’ defensive line will feature Chris Long, Aaron Donald, Nick Fairley, and is lead by Robert Quinn.

Quinn is the best player on that stout defensive line and one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Quinn has been in the league only four seasons, but the last three seasons Quinn has posted double-digit sacks. In 2013, he recorded 19 sacks in a season.

This season, the Rams could be one of those sneaky teams that could make a serious playoff run. The Rams play in the NFC West, which is one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL, so the task will be hard. If the Rams have any chance to make the playoffs, it will be because of their defense. For the defense to hit its mark and play to the capability that it can, it starts with Quinn.

Quinn started last season off slow. Quinn played his best in the middle of the season, as he didn’t record his first sack until Week 7 and his last sack in Week 14. While he did rack up 10.5 sacks between Week 7 and Week 14, he needs to be a bit more consistent this season and be a dominant force from Week 1 to Week 17 for the Rams to be a serious playoff contender.

What will help Quinn this season is playing with that improved defensive line. The defensive line was one of the best last season, but it got better with the addition of Fairley. Teams will struggle to try to double team the pass rushing threat Quinn, because it leaves opportunities for his teammates to get after the quarterback. Quinn will have plenty of opportunities to have one-on-one matchups this season, so he will have plenty of chances to take over games. It’s up to him to seize those opportunities.

The Rams offense is still the question mark for the team.

Quinn is one of the premier pass rushing defensive ends in the NFL. Teams will have to game plan against Quinn, because he is one of those players that has the capability to take over and dominate a game. The Rams are hoping Quinn does that with more consistency this year, because he is their best shot to make a playoff run.
