The Houston Texans don’t exactly have the greatest QB scenario right now, which makes the newest rumor surrounding the organization potentially devastating if it ultimately comes to fruition. According to reports, RB Arian Foster might need surgery to repair an injured groin.

Foster reportedly suffered the injury during the Texans’ first padded practice on Monday. The four-time Pro Bowl running back came up lame on a passing play and ultimately left the field for good.

This cannot be much of a shock to Texans’ fans, staff, players and media alike, as Foster has missed a solid chunk of time throughout his six-year career. In the past, it has been his hamstring issues. Now, not only do they have to worry about Foster pulling a hammy at any second on the field, the Texans will also have to worry about his groin.

Alfred Blue would be the next guy up for the Texans. Blue showed glimpses of brilliance during his 2014 rookie campaign, but he’s not expected to blossom into a player on the same level as Foster. If Foster indeed requires surgery for this injury, Houston has a problem on its hands.

The Texans have not officially commented on the situation, and it’s unclear when a decision will be made on Foster’s immediate future. Some in NFL circles feel Houston can compete in the AFC South in 2015. Without Foster, however, the Texans don’t stand a chance.
