Greg Hardy is making his Dallas Cowboys debut in Week 5 against the New England Patriots.

Hardy, 27, hasn’t played an NFL game since Week 1 of 2014 campaign when he was still a member of the Carolina Panthers, as that summer Hardy was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, and threatening to kill her.

Hardy was said to have thrown Holder onto a futon covered in at least four semiautomatic rifles and three other guns, dragged her by her hair through many rooms, and applied enough pressure to her throat to leave marks.

Naturally, heading into his season and Cowboys debut, Hardy was asked numerous questions from reporters about domestic violence on Tuesday.

When he was asked if he’ll be speaking out on domestic violence, Hardy deflected by saying he’s “sticking to the game plan.” But what he said next was absolutely bizarre.

The full quote reads as follows:

“I love seeing Tom Brady, he’s cool as crap,” Hardy said. “Have you seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game, all her friends come to the game. One of my favorite games of the year, guys.”

Of course, Hardy’s referring to Brady’s supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, who has five sisters. While Hardy didn’t come out and blatantly defame anybody, it’s clear that the comment was made in a tongue-and-cheek manner.

Hardy has played in just one NFL game since the end of the 2013 season. Commissioner Roger Goodell gave Hardy a 10-game suspension this season, but it was reduced to just four games thanks to help from the NFLPA.

Hardy’s incredibly lucky to be employed by any team in the league, but it seems he doesn’t acknowledge it to be the case, and will continue to play the role of antagonist despite being given a second chance he didn’t deserve.
