5 Bold Predictions For Seahawks vs. 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks lost at home on Sunday Night Football in an important game within the NFC West. While the season isn't over just yet for Seattle, the reality is that the Seahawks need to get back on track this week and they will be able to do that against a banged up San Francisco 49ers team. Here are five bold predictions for this matchup.

In his first start, Blaine Gabbert was impressive. Sure he had the injury late in the game and Colin Kaepernick had to come in and close it out. However, Gabbert showed enough that warrants him to be the starter going forward. With two weeks off to heal from the injury, Gabbert will play against Seattle on Sunday. However, the Seahawks defense is amongst the league's best, and they should be able to stifle Gabbert.

Marshawn Lynch hasn't looked like the same player in the 2015 season. Currently, he's questionable to play on Sunday, and while he will likely suit up on Sunday, I do believe that rookie Thomas Rawls gets some time as well. Rawls was impressive when Lynch was out earlier in the year, and given Lynch's injury and his overall wear and tear, I wouldn't be surprised if Rawls was given around 10-12 carries in this game.

3. Carlos Hyde Struggles If He Even Plays

It's been a whirlwind of a season for Carlos Hyde. After Week 1, some had thought that Hyde would lead the league in rushing yards and rushing attempts. However, offensive inconsistencies have led to him struggling. Over the past few weeks, Hyde has been dealing with a foot injury. While it's unlikely he plays this week, he will struggle against Seattle's rush defense if he does decide to suit up.

If the Seahawks shut down the run, they will force Gabbert into having to make plays against their vaunted secondary. Sure Gabbert played well against Atlanta, but he'll be going up against a different animal in a secondary that consists of Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas. I can see the Seahawks forcing three takeaways in this one.

Currently, the Seahawks need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. A loss will make them 4-6. That doesn't mean they're out of it, but a win would greatly improve their chances. Seattle is the better football team here, and they're the healthier team as well. I see the Seahawks winning comfortably in this one.
