The Tennessee Titans finally won a game in Nashville last week after previously going 0-5 at home this season. Although their 3-9 record isn’t pretty, it’s already better than last season’s 2-14 overall mark.

It would seem the Titans are moving forward with the help of rookie QB Marcus Mariota and a surging defensive line. Mariota has received AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice, and the D-line has recorded 34 sacks so far this season. Since the O-line has given up 39 sacks collectively, it’s safe to say the Titans are still a work in progress.

Despite how well Mariota and the defense are doing, this week’s matchup with the New York Jets will be all about receivers. It will be a test between Delanie Walker, the Titans’ leading receiver with 800 yards and four TDs, and Brandon Marshall, the Jets’ leading receiver with 1,062 yards and 10 TDs. While Marshall’s stats admittedly look better on paper, he hasn’t had to share receptions with Dorial Green-Beckham, who is coming off a breakout performance of five catches for 119 yards.

Unfortunately for the Titans, their standout receivers likely won’t be enough against the Jets and their top-10 defense. The Jets only allow 326.5 yards per game, good enough for sixth in the NFL. Although they only boast a mediocre 7-5 record, the Jets have Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick has nearly 10 years of NFL experience on Mariota and inside knowledge of the Titans after playing for them in 2013. Fitzpatrick even beat the Jets after replacing an injured Jake Locker in their Week 4 matchup.

Last season, the Titans lost the matchup 16-11 in Nashville. While they will want to avenge that loss, they haven’t fared well this season against mobile QBs, and Fitzpatrick is the Jets’ second-leading rusher (209 yards, 2 TDs) after Chris Ivory (813 yards, 7 TDs). As much as the Titans will want to capitalize on last week’s win, I don’t see it happening against the Jets.

Prediction: Jets 31, Titans 27
