Damontre Moore was a third round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, who had high hopes to develop him into a dangerous pass rusher . Moore was a projected first round pick that fell due mostly to his size but also immaturity in his character concerns, and it appears those concerns finally became too much to handle as the Giants officially released him today.
“We made the move today in the interest of both parties,” Giants general manager Jerry Reese said in an official statement by the team.
The straw that broke the camel’s back happened this week, when Moore allegedly got into a fight with Cullen Jenkins over not receiving Beats by Dre headphones like other teammates.

Full disclosure — I am a Giants fan and own a Damontre Moore jersey (I went to school at Texas A&M), and while it’s sad to see him go, I cannot, nor can the team, justify his inclusion on the roster anymore. He’s been too much of a headache this season. At one point he had three straight weeks with a crucial roughing the passer penalty, and later was quoted saying he wasn’t going to change.
That’s enough for me. Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out.
