5 Players the Seattle Seahawks Should Cut During 2016 Offseason

Players the Seattle Seahawks Should Cut During 2016 Offseason

The NFC is so weak right now that the good teams don't have to do much to dominate this conference. The Seahawks haven't been themselves this year. They've given up the big play more often than not, the offense can't seem to generate much consistently and the "Legion of Boom" doesn't seem to have much boom in it. Here are five possible starting points to get things turned around to return to form.

5. Will Tukuafu, Fullback

There's really no reason to have two fullbacks on any roster of any NFL team. Maybe that works if your desire is to become more physical. If one of those fullbacks has four carries for a total of one yard and a fumble that was lost, it's really a waste of a roster spot. The Seahawks can cut Tukuafu and go with Derrick Coleman or another option if they choose to. It's best to use that extra spot for a more pressing need.

4. Brandon Mebane, Defensive Tackle

Brandon Mebane is a stud on a defense full of them. He's also one of the reasons this team has seen recent success, but he's a nine-year veteran who is now past 30 years old and doesn't always seem to get the push he used to. The Seahawks still have a defense that gets a lot of pressure from the front four without having to send much help, but they also can get smashed toward the interior of the line. It might be time to look toward the future.

3. Cary Williams, Cornerback

It's fun to be the "Monday morning quarterback," but we all know coaches know more than we do. That's why they're coaches. Still, every once in a while, there's a guy who just doesn't seem to be who everybody keeps telling us he is. Williams is solid and has earned his respect, but he only seems to be great when surrounded by other great players. As the playoffs approach, expect him to be tested more, and expect him to fail a few of those tests.

2. Ricardo Lockette, Wide Receiver

This may seem like kicking a man when he's down, but before season-ending surgery, Lockette was averaging over 17 yards a catch. What that stat doesn't tell you is that's 69 yards on four catches. One was a 23-yard reception against Chicago. Two were against Carolina for 43, which included a magnificent catch over a safety for a TD. With a struggling offense, Seattle might want to think about a guy we call "Megatron" as both are looking to win.

1. Marshawn Lynch, Running Back

It may be safe to say Lynch won't stay healthy for too much longer. There were issues with his spine at the season's beginning. He's one of the most physical runners we've seen in a while. After years of punishment, it may be time to thank Beast Mode for what he's done and find someone with less wear and tear. Most would still agree on this: If Seattle would have run him four straight times, New England wouldn't be the defending champs right now.

Watch Walsh Miss Field Goal To End Vikings' Season

The Seattle Seahawks were the beneficiaries of a missed field goal by Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh that will send them to Charlotte next week to face the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Divisional Round. One has to feel for Walsh who was the Vikings' only offense all afternoon long.

Russell Wilson Is A Freaking Magician

There aren't too many quarterbacks who could make this play. Russell Wilson had to run 10-15 yards to recover the ball, then escape pressure and find a wide-open Tyler Lockett for the biggest play of the game. If the Seahawks win, this will be the turning point.

Watch Seahawks' Baldwin Snag Catch With One Hand

The Seattle Seahawks' offense has been dominated all afternoon by the Minnesota Vikings' defense, but Doug Baldwin gave them a glimmer of hope with this insane one-handed snag. It's one of the lone offensive highlights from a game dominated by defense.
