5. Running Backs Too Inconsistent

Washington scored just nine rushing touchdowns this season, which is good for a substandard 20th in the NFL. QB Kirk Cousins has been excellent, but in order to win games in the playoffs against defenses which typically showcase a solid pass rush and secondary, being able to run the ball is a must. The Redskins just haven't been able to do so on a consistent basis this season.

I'm fully expecting Kirk Cousins to cut the Green Bay Packers to ribbons, but Washington will not make it past the Carolina Panthers or Arizona Cardinals in the Divisional round due to Cousins' inexperience. Those two teams showcase impregnable defenses, and Cousins isn't capable of beating either in their own building in a big spot.

Unless they met the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game, Washington would have to cement three straight victories away from home in order to take home the Lombardi Trophy. It just ain't happening.

After the Robert Griffin III debacle early in the season, Jay Gruden deserves endless praise for leading the Washington Redskins through the fog and into the playoffs. However, we all know he's not quite ready to lead this team to a Super Bowl victory in his second season as an NFL head coach. Gruden might win one eventually, but now is not his time.

1. They Simply Aren't Good Enough

Washington is clearly on to something with the core that's in place (especially now with Kirk Cousins under center). However, keep in mind they won nine games in a division where all three other teams -- the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys -- finished under .500 on the season. With the right offseason additions, Washington might have a chance next season, but they won't be winning Super Bowl 50.
