Kansas City Chiefs' Jeremy Maclin Avoids ACL Injury, Suffers High-Ankle Sprain

By Jason Fletcher

The Kansas City Chiefs got the best news they could’ve hoped for when Jeremy Maclin‘s MRI results came back and showed no tears in the wide receiver’s ACL. Maclin did suffer a high-ankle sprain which has his status as day-to-day, but the fact that there’s even a chance he plays next weekend against the New England Patriots is a bit of a miracle.

Maclin suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Chiefs’ 30-0 victory over the Houston Texans after being brought down following a reception. Ironically, it was the same play that J.J. Watt was injured on and Watt will now have surgery to fix his groin. Maclin was carted off with tears in his eyes as he thought his season had come to an end.

Maclin would finish the game with three receptions for 29 yards following a 2015 season where he posted 87 catches for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns. If he’s unable to go against the Patriots, rookie Chris Conley would start after grabbing a touchdown pass following Maclin’s departure in the win over the Texans.
