Janoris Jenkins And 4 Other Free Agents Pittsburgh Steelers Must Pursue In 2016 Offseason

The Pittsburgh Steelers were dealt a bad hand, as DeAngelo Williams got hurt in Week 17 and missed both playoff games and Antonio Brown missed the AFC Divisional game against the Denver Broncos with a concussion thanks to an illegal hit from Vontaze Burfict. That being said, I don’t know if Mike Tomlin‘s team could’ve beaten the New England Patriots anyways. Here are five free agents who could certainly make the Steelers threats to the Patriots next season.

5. SS George Iloka

At this point, I would expect Iloka to re-sign with the Bengals, but if he were to hit the free-agent market, he would be an attractive option for the rival Steelers who will be losing Will Allen. With Shamarko Thomas not prepared to take over for Allen, Iloka could add a different dynamic to the Steelers' defensive backfield.

4. OT Kelvin Beachum

Re-signing Beachum should be the No. 1 offseason priority for the Steelers, as he's a tremendous left tackle. Alejandro Villanueva did a solid job in Beachum's place after he got injured, but there's a bit of a drop-off in talent from Beachum to Villanueva.

3. G Alex Boone

It's possible that the Steelers choose to re-sign current left guard Ramon Foster, who is also a free agent, but if they decide to scour the free-agent market, Boone would be an attractive option.

2. OLB Tamba Hali

Although Hali had a down year by his standards, he will likely come at a decent price as a 32-year-old edge rusher. With young outside linebackers Bud Dupree and Jarvis Jones, Hali would be the perfect mentor as well as a potential impact player as a rotational piece in Steelers' scheme.

1. CB Janoris Jenkins

The Steelers desperately need an upgrade over Antwon Blake at corner, and Jenkins would be the perfect option. He's a legit shutdown corner in this league, and he will likely come cheaper than Josh Norman.
