5 Of The Only Acceptable Reasons Not To Like Cam Newton

I love Cam Newton.

Newton has proven that he is far more than a running quarterback, carried a team without its best receiver to the Super Bowl and continues to succeed despite constant criticism – all the while smiling, dancing and handing out his touchdown balls to kids.

But so many people hate him for such trivial reasons.

He’s cocky. Well, so is every other NFL player. He’s a show-boater. Well, so is every other NFL player.

You get my point.

So quit complaining about “dabbing” — this isn’t ‘Footloose’ — and take a look at the only five legitimate reasons not to like Carolina’s very own Superman.

5. NCAA Pay-to-Play Scandal

Cam Newton's father and Kenny Rogers, a former Mississippi State Bulldog, tried to elicit over $120,000 from Mississippi State in order to sign Newton out of junior college. The NCAA concluded that nothing illegal was done by Auburn in order to sign Newton, but many people still believe this 13-month investigation to have missed something.

4. Future Throwing Motion Concerns

Cam Newton has a rocket for an arm, as he constantly shows game after game. He does, however, have a problem with throwing the ball while flat-footed sometimes just because he can. Sure, it works great and looks fantastic now, but a few years down the road that could become a major problem for both him and the Panthers. Age catches up with everybody and focusing on stepping into more throws could extend his time in a Panthers uniform.

3. He Crushed Your Team

I watched Cam Newton and Ted Ginn Jr. murder my team earlier this season. However, as a Tennessee Titans fan I don’t really know what it feels like to win, so I imagine it feels much worse to get destroyed by Cam and Co. when you have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.

2. Lack Of Safety Concern

What’s the No. 1 concern for a quarterback who can run? It’s injury, of course. Against the Arizona Cardinals, Cam Newton chose to do a flip into the end zone instead of running it in when it was clear he had an easy touchdown. Sure, it’s a highlight and it will pump up the fans, but unnecessary risks like that could take a huge toll. Derek Anderson isn’t winning the Panthers the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos, and even Panthers fans will agree that they would rather him keep it safe to avoid injury.

1. You’re An Alabama Fan

If you are an Alabama fan, it is completely okay to absolutely hate Cam Newton after what he did to your team in 2010. I honestly believe that if Alabama had an NFL team and Newton brought them to the Super Bowl, the Crimson Tide would still hate him.

Watch Allen Announce Retirement By Riding Off Into Sunset

After 12 seasons, Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen has decided to retire from the NFL. In staying true to his "Cowboy" nickname, Allen recorded this video at his ranch while on his horse and literally rode off into the sunset, although there was no sunset. Good luck in retirement, Cowboy.
