Cam Newton Rumors: QB Walked Out Of Interview Because Chris Harris Was Bragging Within Earshot

Following the Carolina Panthers‘ 24-10 loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, Cam Newton sat at the podium to answer media questions about the disappointing display he and his teammates just put on. Instead of being a man and owning the loss, Newton threw his hood on, gave two or three-word answers and abruptly walked out after roughly two minutes.

While the way he answered the questions could be construed as emotional or distraught, walking off the stage in the middle of an interview likely won’t sit well with anyone, especially the league office.

After some digging, there may be a separate reason for why Newton left the stage.

Apparently, Newton could hear Broncos corner Chris Harris Jr. giving his own interview to the media contingency gathered in front of him, and he was asked to explain how the Broncos’ defense got to Newton. Upon hearing this, the Panthers quarterback had hit his breaking point and walked out of the interview.

While it doesn’t excuse Newton’s actions, there is certainly an issue raised here. There is no reason that the losing team should have to give their postgame interviews right next to the winners. Sure, it makes it easier on the media assembled, but putting so many competitive guys in the same room that are on the opposite ends of the outcome is a dangerous combination.

Hopefully, this is something everyone involved in can learn from in the future.
