10 Big-Name NFL Players Who Could Be On The Move During 2016 Offseason

With Super Bowl 50 now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look ahead to the 2016 NFL offseason, which will officially begin on March 15. There are a number of big-name players who could be on the move through trades and via free agency over the next few months — here’s a look at 10 guys who fall into that category.

10. Drew Brees - QB - New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints need far more help on defense than they will likely be able to obtain over the offseason, as they showcased one of the all-around worst units in the NFL in 2015. While it would be an overwhelmingly difficult and emotional decision, trading Drew Brees is the right thing to do for the franchise. The odds of Brees playing for another team in 2016 might not be great, but it's undoubtedly possible.

9. Alshon Jeffery - WR - Chicago Bears

A lack of dynamic available free agents at wide receiver is driving up Alshon Jeffery's value on the market. The Chicago Bears could always place the franchise tag on Jeffery for one year, but rumors suggest injury concerns have the organization apprehensive about giving him a lengthy mega-deal. Considering the Bears won't be making a Super Bowl run next season, and with Kevin White expected to be healthy, don't be surprised if Jeffery is playing for another team.

8. LeSean McCoy - RB - Buffalo Bills

As details continue to emerge from LeSean McCoy's alleged involvement in a Philadelphia bar brawl last week, it's beginning to seem like the Buffalo Bills could end up releasing the star running back after just one season. There won't be a shortage of potential suitors for McCoy, however, should Buffalo elect to take this drastic measure.

7. Jason Pierre-Paul - DE - New York Giants

It's difficult to gauge how the rest of the NFL thinks of Jason Pierre-Paul as we speak. Pierre-Paul made strides when he returned from the gruesome injury he suffered over the summer, but the idea of JPP having a hard time finishing plays due to the injury is undoubtedly a narrative that's circulating around the league. However, if the New York Giants don't want him, he'll end up with a decent deal on a team that's desperate for a pass-rush specialist.

6. Eric Weddle - FS - San Diego Chargers

After an incredibly unfortunate beef developed between Eric Weddle and the San Diego Chargers in 2015, he's one of the few free agents who are a guarantee not to be re-signing with their current team. At 31 years old, Weddle is still one of the best safeties in the NFL, and will make his next team better before the ink is even dry on the contract.

5. Colin Kaepernick - QB - San Francisco 49ers

When the San Francisco 49ers hired Chip Kelly to bring his 'devil may care' offensive scheme to town, it was widely assumed that Colin Kaepernick would be their quarterback next season. However, reports circulated last month that Kaepernick wanted out of San Francisco, and had his heart set on being traded to the New York Jets. The rumor was refuted, but there seems to be a schism brewing between Kelly and Kaepernick, and it's a battle that the sixth-year quarterback will likely lose.

4. Lamar Miller - RB - Miami Dolphins

Despite being used improperly and playing in an offense that struggled mightily as a whole, Lamar Miller had an excellent season for the Miami Dolphins in 2015. Miller tallied 872 rushing yards with eight rushing touchdowns (seventh in NFL), and added 47 receptions for 397 yards and two TDs in the pass attack.

Miami needs help in many areas, so it's fair to assume it won't be re-signing Miller to a lucrative extension. However, Miller is a top-10 running back and will undoubtedly be an outstanding addition for his new team.

3. Sam Bradford - QB - Philadelphia Eagles

Whispers that are vociferous in nature suggest the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in bringing current Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles back to Philadelphia. This would save the team money, as meeting Sam Bradford's $20 million per season demands would no longer be necessary. There are a plethora of teams that might be interested in Bradford (Houston Texans, New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers, etc.), so don't expect to see him available long after the NFL league year begins next month.

2. Cordy Glenn - OT - Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are dealing with some serious cap issues, and might ultimately have to let Cordy Glenn walk, as he's going to command a boatload of money. Glenn is the top offensive lineman of the 2016 class, and will have an abundance of suitors attempting to woo him away from Western New York once free agency begins.

1. Richie Incognito - OG - Buffalo Bills

Richie Incognito has reinvented himself (on the field at least) since the Jonathan Martin scandal in Miami, and actually had quite an impressive 2015 campaign with the Buffalo Bills. If the Bills keep the aforementioned Cordy Glenn, it's unlikely they will be able to also retain Incognito. With character issues somewhat behind him, Incognito will make for a nice veteran addition on a new team.
