Super Bowl MVP Von Miller Believes Peyton Manning Will Play In 2016

In an episode of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ which aired on Tuesday, Super Bowl 50 MVP and Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller was asked by Ellen if he thought Peyton Manning was going to retire and his answer may surprise some people.

“I don’t think [Peyton] is going to retire,” Miller said. “He still has the physical ability and the mental ability to go out there and be great. I think he still has a little bit left in him.”

It’s downright shocking to me that there’s even a thought Manning would come back for another season. You could tell as the year wore on that there was less zip on his throws and it was becoming harder and harder for him to make the throws he needed to make. Manning was resigned to being nothing more than a game manager through the playoffs which was sad to see for one of the all-time great quarterbacks.

If Manning were to decide to come back for another season, it will be interesting to see if he remains with the Broncos. His father Archie already stated after the Super Bowl that ‘I think Peyton’s done in Denver’ which would seemingly limit his options. The Los Angeles Rams have already shown interest in the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and I’m sure there would be other suitors.

Would Manning be an upgrade over some of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL? Sure. But why would he want to put his soon-to-be 40-year-old body in harm’s way for another season without any guarantee of a championship? Manning needs to take this Super Bowl victory and ride off into the sunset and maybe become a general manager somewhere.
