The Chicago Bears told Matt Forte they won’t be re-signing him on Friday, but the veteran running back will not be out of a job very long. Here’s a look at the five most likely landing spots for Forte as we speak.
5. New England Patriots

With LeGarrette Blount most likely not returning, the New England Patriots need an every-down running back to pair with Dion Lewis. Matt Forte is the perfect fit.
4. Houston Texans

Arian Foster is simply far too injury prone for the Houston Texans to retain. Being that Houston is also dealing with uncertainty at quarterback, finding a reliable bell-cow running back is paramount. Matt Forte would be perfect for the Texans.
3. New York Jets

The New York Jets are likely going to lose both Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell in free agency. Signing Matt Forte would allow them to keep the draft pick they are otherwise going to have to burn on a running back.

Darren McFadden was solid for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, but landing Matt Forte would undoubtedly make them better. McFadden isn't making a boatload of money, so the Cowboys have some wiggle room to sign Forte if they so desire.
