The Kansas City Chiefs had a strong season under Andy Reid, but they once again floundered in the playoffs as Alex Smith could not do enough to win. The team is going to have to add some players in the draft to make some more noise in the postseason. Here is a look at who they could target in the 2016 NFL Draft.
5. Cornerback

Sean Smith is a free agent. If the team cannot re-sign him, they will need to add some depth behind Marcus Peters and Steve Nelson. A mid-round pick can be used on a depth player like Eric Murray to fix the issue.
4. Quarterback

Alex Smith is simply never going to lead the Chiefs to a title. While they have a strong team, they should look into drafting a possible successor. The team may look into taking Connor Cook in the second round of the draft.
3. Inside Linebacker

Derrick Johnson is an aging free agent who may need to be replaced. The team does not have much depth at linebacker anyway and they may take a linebacker in the first two rounds. Reggie Ragland and Kentrell Brothers would both be logical fits.
2. Wide Receiver

Jeremy Maclin is the only capable receiver on the Chiefs’ roster, as Chris Conley and Albert Wilson are still works in progress. The team may add another body in the first few rounds to give the team’s offense more to work with.

The Chiefs have two strong defensive linemen hitting free agency in Mike DeVito and Jaye Howard, and they will not be able to retain both. Vernon Butler and Kenny Clark are both possible fits in the first round.
