5 Potential Landing Spots For Free Agent RB Arian Foster

By Brad Berreman

After another injury-plagued season and approaching 30 years old, running back Arian Foster has been released by the Houston Texans. He’ll have to prove his health after an Achilles tear ended his 2015 season, but Foster should be able to continue his career next season with a new team.

Here are five teams that could have interest in signing Foster.

The Browns have a few bigger needs to address, but adding to their current running back mix could be considered. Foster, if healthy and in the right role, could add spark to Cleveland's lackluster running game.

The Redskins are likely to let Alfred Morris leave as a free agent, and Matt Jones is not necessarily locked in as the new No. 1 back looking toward next season. If Foster's asking price is realistic, Washington could have more than a passing interest in him.

3. Denver Broncos

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak was Foster's head coach in Houston for close to five full seasons (2009-13), so there's a tie there along with a fit based on Foster's familiarity with Kubiak's offense. It's hard to see C.J. Anderson or Ronnie Hillman as a clear No. 1 back, if one or both are re-signed, so adding Foster to a running back committee could be on Denver's radar.

Under the assumption Lamar Miller jumps ship in free agency, the Dolphins would be looking for someone to serve as a backup to possible new lead back Jay Ajayi. That's the kind of role Foster should be looking for with a new team, so taking whatever is left of his talents to South Beach looks like a good fit.

1. Oakland Raiders

The Raiders seem committed to reducing Latavius Murray's workload next season, and there are multiple directions they can go in search of better running back depth. Foster can't be the workhorse he once was, but Oakland can offer him a complementary role that should allow him to be healthy and effective.
