Denver Broncos Rumors: Robert Griffin III Would Be A Good Fit

By Brad Berreman

As they reload their quarterback depth chart after Peyton Manning‘s retirement and Brock Osweiler‘s decision to leave in free agency, the Denver Broncos have had rumored interest in nearly every available signal-caller. Serious trade talks surrounding Colin Kaepernick seem to have faded a bit, and a trade for Mark Sanchez hardly means the Broncos should be done looking at quarterbacks.

All indications are that Robert Griffin III is coming off a very positive visit with the Cleveland Browns, but the Broncos are reportedly evaluating the former No. 2 overall pick as a potential option.

The mobility and arm strength Griffin showed early in his career, assuming those skills remain intact after an idle 2015 season with the Washington Redskins, look like a good fit for the offense Kubiak likes to run. The New York Jets also hosted Griffin for a visit recently, but general manager Mike Maccagnan chalked that up to “due diligence” by the team rather than serious interest.

It’s unknown if the Broncos want to have Griffin in for a visit, but if they have evaluated and discussed him that would be a logical next step. After the way his situation in Washington deteriorated, stability should be what Griffin seeks as he looks for a new team. The Broncos can offer that if they want to, so if all things are equal otherwise (money, starting opportunity) Denver should trump Cleveland as Griffin’s eventual landing spot.
