2016 NFL Draft: Tennessee Titans Open To Trading No. 1 Overall Pick

By Jason Fletcher

The Tennessee Titans locked up the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by going 3-13 during the 2015 season. With the acquisition of Marcus Mariota with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 draft, the Titans are one of the few teams near the top of the draft that aren’t in the need of a quarterback. With that being the case, general manager Jon Robinson wanted to make it clear that the No. 1 overall pick is available for trade.

“We’d be open to moving the pick,” Robinson said. “I think the statement I made the other day maybe got taken out of context a little bit with ‘kings ransom.’…The question was what would it take to move way back in the draft, which would take a lot of picks…I think some heard that I wasn’t open to moving, or we weren’t open to moving the pick, which is not true.”

In my opinion, it would be a colossal mistake for Robinson to keep the pick, unless he doesn’t get a significant offer. The Titans are a ways away from contending, and the No. 1 pick should garner a considerable package of picks in return. While Laremy Tunsil, Jalen Ramsey or Joey Bosa would be nice additions with the top pick, it would be hard to justify not moving back for a competitive offer.
