For the longest time it’s just been assumed that the Tennessee Titans would use the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to add a stalwart left tackle to protect the blindside of franchise quarterback Marcus Mariota. But as the draft nears, it seems as if that sentiment may be shifting toward the actual best player in the 2016 draft class: Jalen Ramsey.
Taking a defensive back No. 1 overall is unprecedented, but selecting the top overall player shouldn’t seem like all that wild of an idea. What such a move would do is push the top offensive linemen down the board a bit and certainly shift the draft philosophies for the other teams in the top half of the order looking for help in the secondary.
Get ready for a wild ride in the buildup to the 2016 NFL Draft. If the surprises start at the very top, just imagine how crazy it could get when teams get desperate!
