Denver Broncos Rumors: Team Reaches Out To Johnny Manziel

If the season were to start today, the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos would have Mark Sanchez as their starting quarterback. No matter what he says about believing he can beat out any other quarterback the team brings in, the Broncos certainly don’t want him to be the No. 1 guy.

General manager John Elway has been trying to work out a deal with the San Francisco 49ers over recent weeks for Colin Kaepernick, but the team wants him to take a pay cut and he hasn’t been willing to do that so far. That’s left Elway in a bit of a tough spot which apparently has led to the Broncos talking to one of the most popular free agents on the market, according to Adam Schefter.

When I first saw the news, I thought there’s absolutely no way the Broncos could be that dumb. Then longtime Broncos beat writer Mike Klis almost immediately shot down Schefter’s report.

I don’t believe any team in the NFL will take a chance on Johnny Manziel until his legal issues get resolved and he stops ending up on TMZ with a bottle of champagne in his hands. He needs to get his life back on track before he even begins to think about playing football again.
