The Dallas Cowboys’ 2016 NFL schedule has been released, so they’re now a little closer to getting rid of that awful taste in their mouths coming off an incredibly disappointing 4-12 season.

Week 2: Cowboys at Redskins – Sunday, Sept. 18 at noon

Week 3: Bears at Cowboys – Sunday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 pm

Week 7: BYE

Week 8: Eagles at Cowboys – Sunday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 pm

Week 9: Cowboys at Browns – Sunday, Nov. 6 at noon

Week 10: Cowboys at Steelers – Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3:25 pm

Week 11: Ravens at Cowboys – Sunday, Nov. 20 at noon

Week 12: Redskins at Cowboys – Thursday, Nov. 24 at 3:30 pm (Thanksgiving)

Week 13: Cowboys at Vikings – Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7:25 pm

Week 14: Cowboys at Giants – Sunday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 pm

Week 15: Buccaneers at Cowboys – Sunday, Dec. 18 at noon

Week 16: Lions at Cowboys – Monday, Dec. 26 at 7:30 pm

Week 17: Cowboys at Eagles – Sunday, Jan. 1 at noon

Anyone else notice the Cowboys have four very winnable games in December and then another on New Year’s Day? Dallas has arguably three really tough games outside of divisional contests against the Bengals, Packers and Steelers all within a six-week span.

If the Cowboys play like they should with a healthy Tony Romo and win two of those games, they could be in great shape for playoff positioning when the second half of the season begins. Of course, that two-game road trip in the middle of the year will be rough on any players battling injuries, but at least it comes following a bye. If the Cowboys can make it out of that stretch healthy and with a 6-3 record or better, the latter half of the year should feature a playoff team ready to contend in Dallas.
