Le'Veon Bell Unsurprisingly Got 'Random' Drug Test On 4/20

By Brad Berreman

April 20 is a noted “holiday” for some people, and it also happens to be the first day the NFL can conduct it’s annual drug testing for players under the substance abuse policy. One of the players who received a random test on Wednesday was Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell.

Bell is in the league’s substance abuse program, with a two-game suspension last season after an arrest the previous summer for marijuana possession and a DUI. So it’s hardly a surprise that Bell was one of the players around the league that had to submit to a drug test on the first day the league could do it, but he apparently was not worried about passing that test.

Bell’s bigger concern heading into the 2016 season is the torn ACL and MCL that ended his 2015 season early in Week 8. There is no timetable for his return right now, but there is hope he’ll be ready for Week 1.
