Round 1 (No. 1 Overall) --- Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State

So everyone’s on the Jared Goff bandwagon, are they? Well, Jeff Fisher went rogue once before early in the NFL draft, and that pick netted him the late Steve McNair from tiny Alcorn State. This time, the fiery redhead Carson Wentz finds his way to California to be the face of a franchise, and Fisher once again gets his small-school guy with blueblood talent to mold the roster around.

Round 4 (No. 110 Overall) --- Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame

After releasing James Laurinaitis to clear up some cap space, landing a first-round talent like Jaylon Smith in Round 4 due to injury concerns would be highway robbery. A torn ACL in the Fiesta Bowl has raised red flags about potential nerve damage and a long-term impact on his career, but the Rams would be elated to add this rangy tackling machine to their defense.

Round 4 (No. 113 Overall) --- Kenny Lawler, WR, California

Though he may be somewhat slight in terms of build, Kenny Lawler showed what he was capable of with tremendous production at Cal during his career. Reliability is the best quality Lawler brings to the table, and the Rams could use a receiver who consistently catches the balls he should hang onto with a young QB in the fold.

Round 6 (No. 177 Overall) --- Ryan Smith, CB, North Carolina Central

Still new to football after not picking up the game until his senior year of high school, Ryan Smith has gained steady momentum at the FCS level and secured an invite to the Combine. The Rams have had this kid in for a pre-draft visit, and his natural instincts combined with a prototypical cornerback frame give him tremendous upside as a sixth-round pick.

Round 6 (No. 190 Overall) --- Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor

Here’s the gamble of the draft. Coach Fisher has been known for his indifference to guys with character questions, and Shawn Oakman certainly fits into that category. At 6-foot-8, 287 pounds, da Vinci couldn’t have designed a more perfect human being in terms of physique. The Rams had him in for a pre-draft visit, so if they believe they can get this kid with a troubled past on the right path, his upside potential is through the roof.
