The Detroit Lions will go on the clock with the 16th overall pick in next Thursday’s first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, with multiple players sure to be of interest. With plenty of need-based options, the Lions must get one of these five players in the first round of the draft.

5. Clemson DE Kevin Dodd

Dodd has garnered first-round buzz after registering 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss last season, in his only year as a starter. From a pure upside perspective, the Lions should take a long look at Dodd.

4. Ole Miss DT Robert Nkemdiche

Nkemdiche has given teams off-field reasons to move him down, or entirely off their draft boards. While I think Nkemdiche is someone to generally avoid in the first round, the Lions might have to take the risk if things shake out a certain way.

3. Clemson DE Shaq Lawson

Ziggy Ansah was the only Lion with more than seven sacks last season, so adding to the pass rush has to be a priority. Lawson could easily go off the board before Detroit's turn, which is the only thing keeping him from a higher spot on this list.

2. Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell

Calvin Johnson's retirement leaves an obvious void for Detroit, even if you buy free agent signing Marvin Jones as a budding star. Treadwell looks like a No. 1 WR at the next level, and the Lions will have to consider him at No. 16 if he's available.

1. Ohio State OT Taylor Decker

Riley Reiff needs to move to right tackle, so adding a left tackle should be on the Lions' first-round radar. They are not likely to get one of the top three in this year's class, but having to "settle" for Decker would be a nice place to be.
