Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has been indicted by a Dallas County grand jury for misdemeanor assault with bodily injury. The ruling comes as a result of an incident that occurred in January when Manziel allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley so hard that it ruptured her eardrum.

According to police reports, Crowley tried to jump out of their moving car, but Manziel stopped, dragged her back into the car and struck her. The Dallas Police Department decided to present evidence to a grand jury to see if they should pursue a misdemeanor case against Manziel instead of arresting him.

The two reportedly worked out an out-of-court settlement prior to the case being presented to the grand jury. There hasn’t been any indication as to what that settlement may have looked like.

Manziel has been spiraling out of control at an alarming rate lately as he’s been out partying pretty much every night, but still naively believes that he’s going to play in the NFL next season. There isn’t one team that’s going to take a chance on him until he can prove that these issues are behind him.
