Houston Texans Must Land One Of These 5 Guys In First Round Of 2016 NFL Draft

By Bryan Zarpentine

The Houston Texans were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL last season after winning the AFC South. The team now has the confidence that they can win their division again, as well as a new quarterback in Brock Osweiler. But they still have work to do during the 2016 NFL Draft, and it starts with making sure they land one of these players with their first-round pick.

5. Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson

Alexander would be a nice fallback option for the Texans if they can't get a lineman or receiver. He's a little undersized, but the skills to become a good NFL corner and an asset to the Houston secondary are definitely there.

4. Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame

If someone snags Coleman before the Texans can, Fuller may be Houston's Plan B at wide receiver. He's an almost ideal choice to be the No. 2 receiver to complement Hopkins and someone who can make an impact in Houston's offense right away.

3. Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor

Coleman appears to be the most likely player to land with the Texans in the first round. Other than DeAndre Hopkins, Houston's wide receivers are rather underwhelming, and adding Coleman would be a great coup for new quarterback Brock Osweiler.

2. Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama

If the Texans can't get Robinson, they may hope his Alabama teammate Reed falls to them. He too could provide an infusion of youth to the Houston defensive front and make them even more stout up front.

1. A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama

The Texans are strong up front, but they need to get younger. Robinson has the potential to be the kind of nose tackle who can anchor the frontline of Houston's 3-4 defense and take a little pressure off J.J. Watt.
