2016 NFL Draft Rumors: New York Giants Interested In Myles Jack

By Jason Fletcher

The linebacker position has been a weakness for the New York Giants for years and the most recent rumors seem to indicate that general manager Jerry Reese finally realizes it. Over the last few days, a number of mock drafts have the Giants taking Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd with the No. 10 overall pick.

On Wednesday morning, Adam Schefter joined a New York radio station to add another possibility for the Giants. When asked what he was hearing about the Giants, Schefter responded, “A lot of Myles Jack chatter.” Jack is widely regarded as the best linebacker in the draft, but he’s coming off of a torn meniscus that cost him almost all of his 2015 season at UCLA.

A number of teams have been rumored to be concerned about that knee, but the Giants are reportedly fine with it according to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King. In fact, King had the Giants taking Jack in his latest mock draft.

As long as that knee is healthy, Jack is the perfect fit for what the Giants do on defense. Floyd, on the other hand, is a 3-4 edge rusher and really doesn’t fit the Giants’ scheme. It’s puzzling to me why he’s even being discussed as the potential pick. If I’m a Giants fan, I’d cross my fingers that Jack falls and he is the pick.
