Dallas Cowboys Become Super Bowl Contender After Selecting Ezekiel Elliott

By Jason Fletcher

The Dallas Cowboys made a huge splash by selecting Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. While the running back position as a whole has lost value over recent years, Elliott joins an offense that features the best offensive line in the league, arguably the top wide receiver and a top-10 quarterback.

Elliott was a dominant player at Ohio State as he racked up 2,699 yards combined over the last two seasons and averaged 6.6 YPC while scoring 41 rushing touchdowns. He’s a brilliant pass protector and a solid pass catcher as he’s one of the few three-down running backs to come out of college.

The Cowboys will be looking to get the type of success in the running game that they had in 2014 when DeMarco Murray rushed for 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns while the team went 12-4. Elliott is certainly that type of player, it’ll be exciting to find out if he can produce at the next level.
