Three of the first four games the Detroit Lions play in are on the road, and six of their first nine are conference games. No schedule in the NFL is really easy, but that’s still a tall order. It seems like a possible Lions breakthrough is discussed every year. Well, that may be an issue this year. Their Hall Of Fame worthy receiver is gone. Their coach is still Jim Caldwell, but stranger things have happened. Here are five games on the schedule that could possibly be key in starting a turnaround.
5. Sept. 25 at Green Bay Packers

This team could easily be 0-4 after four weeks. In order to compete year in and year out, division games have to be won, and they have to be won on the road. This probably won't be where it starts, but as a Lions fan you have to hope so.
4. Nov. 20 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

These are called letdown games. Imagine not having a bye week until Week 10, and you play a division opponent in both Week 9 and Week 12. If the Lions look past the Jaguars in Week 11 and think about the Vikings too early, they'll lose both games.
3. Nov. 6 at Minnesota Vikings

The Lions play the Vikings twice in four weeks. They probably won't be favored in Week 9, and if this season is broken beyond repair by the time Week 12 rolls around, this game could really get out of hand and ugly.
2. Oct. 2 at Chicago Bears

Winning road games hasn't been this team's strong point. Winning divisional games definitely hasn't either. With that being said, they play two divisional games on the road in Weeks 3 and 4. Doesn't sound like a recipe for success, does it?
1. Jan. 1 vs. Green Bay Packers

Let's just imagine for a second that the stars all align and the season comes down to Week 17. They'll have a division opponent at home with a chance to clinch. It's highly unlikely but not impossible, and you can't count any NFL team out.
