The wide receiver position is one of the most important ones in the NFL right now. There are a lot of quality players at the position, including a lot of excellent athletes who have revolutionized the position. However, there are a lot of teams that lack depth at receiver.
Here are five teams that may have problems at the position.
5. Buffalo Bills
Getty ImagesSammy Watkins is a terrific wide receiver, but he has trouble staying healthy. Besides him, the Bills have some middling guys like Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin and Leonard Hankerson. Perhaps rookie speedster Kolby Listenbee will make an impact.
4. Baltimore Ravens
Getty ImagesSteve Smith is coming off of a torn Achilles. At age 37, it may be tough for him to come back. Breshad Perriman has not yet played in the NFL while Kamar Aiken is a No. 2 option at best. The team lacks depth at the position.
3. San Francisco 49ers
Getty ImagesTorrey Smith was a bust in his first season with the 49ers. Most of their players are young and have some potential, but they have no established depth. Quinton Patton, Bruce Ellington and DeAndre Smelter may see some action this year.
2. Los Angeles Rams
Getty ImagesThe Rams have a lot of athletes who simply are not quality receivers. Tavon Austin is a versatile gadget guy, but he cannot be a No. 1 guy. Brian Quick and Kenny Britt are mediocre at best. Rookie Pharoh Cooper may be their best pass-catcher.
1. Cleveland Browns
Getty ImagesJosh Gordon is too busy partying to play in the NFL. First-round pick Corey Coleman came to camp out of shape. Brian Hartline and Andrew Hawkins are projected to play a lot for the team. It will be a rough year for the Browns' receivers.
