Kevin Faulk Says Bill Belichick Did Not Say 'Good Morning' To Him For Three Years

On Wednesday, it was announced that former New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk will going into the team’s Hall of Fame later this year. He was part of three Super-Bowl winning teams over 13 seasons with the Patriots, and he is the franchise’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards (12,349) and kickoff return yards (4,098). But that does not mean Faulk always had an openly cordial relationship with head coach Bill Belichick.

Nola.com put together a roundtable discussion with the three top rushers in LSU history, and Faulk was asked for some “inside scoop” on Belichick.

Faulk said he would always say good morning to Belichick, but would be ignored. Then, apparently two or three years into his career, Faulk says the coach finally returned the greeting. Faulk added the following snippet of the exchange.

“Whoa, stop, stop, stop. ‘Stop, coach.’

‘What’s going on, Kevin?’

‘Coach, you realize we’ve been walking in this same hall for however many years and this is the first time you said good morning?’

‘Ah, my bad, Kevin.’ And he walks away.”

Belichick is famously stoic publicly, so his ignoring of Faulk or anyone else in the halls of the Patriots’ facility is not really a surprise. It’s just another case of “Belichick being Belichick”, if we needed one.
