Seantrel Henderson’s Disappearance Could Be Trouble For Buffalo Bills’ Offensive Line

By Jacob Camenker

According to sources, the starting right tackle for the Buffalo Bills is “MIA.” Seantrel Henderson, who has started 26 games over the past two seasons for the Bills, has not been in contact with the team this offseason. Henderson has reportedly been getting treatment for Crohn’s disease, a gastrointestinal issue which causes chronic inflammation that forced him to miss five games last season, but he has not gotten into contact with Bills coaches since offseason training began.

If Henderson does not return for the Bills, the team could end up being in some trouble. They are already thin at the right tackle position, and losing Henderson would significantly hurt their depth.

As of right now, the Bills have two tackles, aside from starter Cordy Glenn, who have NFL experience. The favorite to assume the full-time job at the right tackle position is Jordan Mills. Mills came in and started towards the end of last season for the team, and he was relatively solid. He has 34 starts under his belt during his three-year career, and he should be able to perform on par with Henderson if he does not regress.

The other option the team has on the roster is Cyrus Kouandjio. Kouandjio was a second-round pick by the Bills in the 2014 NFL Draft. Despite having great potential and solid athleticism, he has not panned out during his NFL career. He has only made two starts and has constantly dealt with nagging injuries. The team cannot count on him to be anything more than a backup given these issues.

Still, the best option for the Bills would be to get Henderson to return. Although Mills could play at his level, Henderson still has more upside given his 6-foot-7 frame, his experience, and his overall athleticism. After all, he was once considered to be one of the top recruits of his high school class.

However, for now it looks like Henderson may be calling it quits until he can get healthy. If he does not return, the Bills will have to try and replace him, which will not be an easy thing to do.
